Kuşadası is both a cruise-ship port and a major package-holiday resort. Outside high season, though, it is a laid-back town with some lovely beaches and stunning views. If you look hard enough, the old Kuşadası is not too far beneath the surface either: there are some lovely bars in the old quarter.
The hectic rise of tourism in the area has also lead to a huge increase in population - some sources claiming that it has trebled in the last 10 years - although it is difficult to say how many of these are residents and how many are holiday-makers. Nonetheless, its commercial success has given rise to a new cultural texture in Kuşadası, and visitors can expect locals to be very tuned in to their needs. |
